LIVE REVIEW: LOYLE CARNER @ GLASGOW O2 ACADEMY 14.11.2025
On 14th November 2025, Loyle Carner took the stage at Glasgow’s O2 Academy for the third night in a row as part of the hopefully ! world tour.
Known for his distinct hip-hop style with jazz and soul influences, Carner returned to Glasgow to celebrate his new album, hopefully !, which was released in June of this year. Along with his excellent band, Carner played several songs from his new album as well as fan favourites from previous projects.
Kicking off the night was the talented Rejjie Snow from Dublin, Ireland. The rapper took to the stage an hour before Carner’s set began. He played half an hour of his music which got the crowd’s energy up and ready for the main event.
As it struck 9pm, the show began and it was instantly clear that it was going to be a great night. The band surrounded Carner with him in the middle and ‘in my mind’ from his latest album was the first song played. It felt like a grand moment. The lighting was on point and the music created the perfect vibe.
Throughout the night, the audience reciprocated the energy from the music. Between songs, the crowd would deafeningly applaud and cheer for a solid 30 seconds out of pure love for the music.
Carner praised Glasgow multiple times throughout the show. He spoke about his time living here and his experiences in Scotland. Glasgow is like a second home to him and was appreciative of the love he received from the crowd that night.
Some highlights of the night included ‘Ain’t Nothing Changed’, ‘Yesterday’ and ‘Loose Ends’. These tracks had the biggest reactions, with fans screaming every word back at the stage.
Following the incredible performance of ‘Ottolenghi’, a standing ovation was given and well deserved for the band.
As part of the encore, Carner recited a beautiful poem before the band came back onto the stage and played a final song, ‘A Lasting Place’.
After this amazing performance in the O2 Academy Glasgow, imagining what Carner and company could do in filled arenas is truly exciting. There is no doubt arena tours are on the cards next for Carner.
