LIVE REVIEW: LEWIS CAPALDI @ GLASGOW OVO HYDRO 14.09.2025
An emotional comeback for Lewis Capaldi as he performs for the second night at a sold-out show in none other than Glasgow’s OVO Hydro.
It’s a typical autumn night in Scotland, with the rain bouncing off the ground but that doesn’t stop the thousands descending down to Glasgow’s famous OVO Hydro to watch the comeback of their sweetheart Lewis Capaldi after his hiatus to focus on his mental health.
Of course it comes as no surprise that his performance was incredible from start to finish and was as though he had never been on a break. From the moment the intro music beamed through the speakers the crowd erupted into roars which continued throughout his full set paired with a confetti drop and lit up wristbands.
Capaldi appeared on the stage waving to the roaring crowd as the intro to his come-back tune “Survive” blared through the speakers. It’s evident from the beginning that this show is going to be full of emotion, vulnerability and energy from a crowd full of thousands of people who are ecstatic to see Lewis back in the music scene.
His setlist for the night was a great mix of his first releases, newer releases and of course he teased us with three new songs that will be released in the near future. “Forever”, “Pointless” and “Hold Me While You Wait” was amongst the setlist with some crowd favourites such as “Pretender” and “Something In The Heavens” which Lewis has been teasing recently all over social media.
Capaldi proved to the audience that although he may have been on a break, he always intended on coming back and didn’t stop making new ballads for us all to love and sing our hearts out to. Capaldi showed the audience that he has regained his stage confidence and that he can still connect with them deeply, even in a massive room like the Hydro.
It wouldn’t have made sense to end on any other song than his biggest hit “Someone You Loved” . When it reached the inevitable end of such a powerful set, the room filled with a mixture of phone lights and the Capaldi branded wristbands that was given as we entered the building this evening. Instantly as Lewis sang to the crowd, the crowd roared the lyrics back to him in unison becoming a shared moment of connection, raw and unfiltered emotion. Capaldi, visibly moved, stepped back from the microphone and let the crowd take over, a sea of voices echoing the heartbreak and vulnerability in his lyrics. It was a powerful finale, filled with emotion and unity, the kind of moment that lingers long after the lights come up.
It was definitely a night to remember and I don’t think any of the audience will be able to forget it in a hurry.
